Did You Know That Brad: -Formerly guitarist for the rock group Army of Me.
-Brad, a recent Nashville resident, just signed a publishing deal with two companies (a joint venture), Propel Music and Wright of Center Music.
Hi All !! My name is Brad Tursi. I am a singer/songwriter/guitar player from Connecticut. And here are the facts: I started playing guitar at 15 when I found my father's old Yamaha acoustic in the attic. It was love at first note. I picked it up and haven't put it down for 15 years now (It's still my favorite guitar). Like any other young aspiring rock star would do, I formed a high school band. We rocked parties, bars and proms and it was probably the most fun I have ever had playing music.
I headed to James Madison University in Virginia for college and met another great modern rock band called Ki:Theory. I joined them as lead guitar player and, much like my high school band, we rocked parties and bars (no proms, but maybe a wedding....I can't remember!), and released three records on our own.
After five years with Ki:Theory, I joined the band Army of Me from Washington, DC as lead guitarist. After a couple years of hard work, we landed the ever-elusive major label record deal with Atlantic Records. Yeah!! We released our record "Citizen", and in support of it, were fortunate to tour with bands such as Dave Matthews Band, OAR and The Damnwells. Our single, "Going Through Changes", was added to regular rotation on KROQ, LA, and many other stations nation wide. The video for "Going Through Changes" also appeared in regular rotation on MTV, and MTV2. It was a great ride with Army of Me, but there was something inside me that just wasn't satisfied...
Throughout the ten years I spent in Ki:theory and Army of Me, I was always writing songs for myself that never fit the sound of the bands. I grew up loving the Stones, The Black Crowes, James Taylor, Neil Young, Ryan Adams etc..., so when I quit Army of Me I decided it was time to pursue what was in my heart. I packed up the car and, like so many others before me, headed to Nashville. I have only been here for a year and a half but it already feels like home. I play lead guitar for Josh Gracin (American Idol), and I just signed a publishing deal with two fantastic companies (a joint venture), Propel Music and Wright of Center Music.
Ok! That's it for now. Still writing the book.........
